. michelle bachmann is the only other candidate in double digits. bad news in the poll for jon huntsman. 2% of the vote. hundredsman can't catch a break in the endorsement game. his former chief of staff, utah congressman and future senator is endorsing mitt romney calling him more lectable. interesting number for you this morning in iowa. iowa republicans are souring on ethanol subsidies. in a new poll conducted by consumer voter research, for the iowa republican 47% of likely republican caucus goers have a very or somewhat positive view of a candidate who wants to cut ethanol subsidies. 24% have a negative reaction to that. finally overnight, tim pawlenty's numbers got higher. he's bringing in the daughter of mike huckabee to run his campaign. she helped put together that campaign in iowa for her dad to win the caucuses and finish second in the straw poll. in an effort to engage the young and tech savvy the president is holding a tweet up this afternoon. topic is the economy and jobs but the thousands of 140 character or less queries submitted versus the ask obama hash tag includes marij

are really embracing it as a way to draw others out. for instance, jon huntsman who is struggling in the polls now is really trying to use this as a referendum on mitt romney's leadership. not necessarily coming out saying he backed boehner's planning saying it's in the right direction, that he agrees that there should be no tax revenue and no tax hikes. so he's really trying to land some hits on romney in this instance. and, of course, all of them are using this to really make this argument that barack obama hasn't led, that he has no plan of his own, and that he is really a big spending liberal who has really presided over this massive increase in spending and deficit spending. >> right. so with the president's overall approval rating hitting a new low, it's now just 40%, do you think this debate helps or hurts the president in 2012? if everything gets done and over with here and we have an end of the summer sort of the heat and rhetoric all calms down, will this be a factor this time next year? >> i think it will definitely come up again. on the one hand, you're going to have r

boehnor, eric canton, mitch mcconnell, jon kyl, collectively they passed 19 votes during the bush administration to raise the debt ceiling, just those four guys. raising the debt ceiling is not something that usually has a big fight over it. sometimes it does, sometimes part of congress tries to leverage this vote because it's something that absolutely has to pass. in the same way crafty politicians will sometimes attach unrelated things to the pentagon budget because the pentagon budget everybody agrees has to pass, in that same way, politicians in the past tried to attach things to the debt ceilings. they not only failed, they so misunderstood the dynamics of their own party, john boehnor is so bad at his job, a political pundit at 9:00 p.m. on nbc, using this as a metaphor of what just happened to them. the breeze helps, i think. republicans blew it. they totally, utterly, 100% blew it, and today they had to essentially surrender. >> republicans senate leader mitch mcconnell presented. >> after weeks and months of fighting about it, senate republicans today proposed allowing pr
